Liverpool fear senior figure is set to join rivals Manchester United, he would be a big loss

Liverpool are afraid their director of research Ian Graham will quit the club to join rivals Manchester United, according to a report.

Liverpool are afraid their director of research Ian Graham will quit the club to join rivals Manchester United, according to a report.

The Reds have been in a state of flux from top to bottom in recent months.

In November it emerged that club owners Fenway Sports Group are keen to sell the club, and had put together a full sales presentation for interested parties.

Elsewhere sporting director Julian Ward announced he would quit his role next summer after a solitary year in the job.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s side have struggled on the pitch. They currently sit sixth in the Premier League, some seven points from the Champions League spots and 15 points from Arsenal in top spot.

Liverpool now fear their director of research will leave to join bitter rivals Man Utd, according to Football Insider.

Graham to Man Utd?

Football Insider have claimed Graham could quit Liverpool and head to Man Utd, along with former Liverpool head of recruitment Michael Edwards.

Edwards, who is Ward’s predecessor, had been targeted by Man Utd as the Old Trafford club look to overhaul their recruitment team.

The Football Insider report claims Man Utd are still well placed to secure an agreement with the Edwards, having submitted a “hugely attractive offer” to him.

Graham worked under Edwards at Liverpool and had a primary focus on recruitment and player analysis.

He has been at Liverpool since 2012 and has been to the club’s status as transfer market standard bearer during the Klopp era.
