Jurgen Klopp only has one selfie on his phone and it's with Lionel Messi

The Liverpool manager revealed he only has one selfie on his smartphone. He's now a World Cup winner.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp once revealed that a picture with Lionel Messi was the only selfie on his phone – and he was in the same room as Cristiano Ronaldo when the snap was taken.

For many of you reading this, a typical album on your phone will consist of several 'selfies' with family members or a partner.

These pictures will often be taken at your favourite holiday resort or a big fancy wedding – but Jurgen Klopp isn't one of those people.

"I have one selfie on my smartphone," the German said during a special Q&A at the LFC Foundation Gala dinner premiere in 2018. "That's with Messi. Cristiano was in the room, as well..."

So there we have it. Klopp clearly doesn't bother with family member selfies, but a picture with arguably the greatest of all time was a must.

Back in 2020, the Liverpool manager made his choice in the much-debated Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo argument.

"For me Messi, but I couldn't admire Ronaldo more than I do already," he told YouTube channel freekickerz after being asked who he favoured.

"The explanation is the following: we've played against both already and both are almost impossible to defend. But Messi has much lower physical requirements from birth on.

"If you could paint yourself a perfect player, it would have Ronaldo's height, he could jump and run as high or quick as Ronaldo can do. And what is then even added to that is his total attitude, it is absolutely perfect and professional, it couldn't be any better."

Klopp added: "And on the other side, there is the small Messi who makes everything look so simple. And therefore I like him maybe a little bit more as a player on the pitch. But Cristiano is also an absolutely incredible player.

"It's really difficult, therefore, but what both have in common is that both have left their footprints for such a long time.

"There are also some younger players who have a similar potential, but to do that over this time period is even more incredible."

Messi lifted his first World Cup on Sunday after Argentina beat then-reigning champions France in one of the best finals of all time.

He has vowed to continue playing for his country in the coming months.

“Obviously I wanted to cap my career with this and I can’t ask for anything more," he told TYC Sports after the final whistle.

“What will happen after this? I’ve managed to win the Copa America and the World Cup almost at the end. I love football, it’s what I do.

"I enjoy being in the national team and want to continue by experiencing a few more games as a world champion.”
