Luiz Felipe Scolari has claimed that working with Lionel Messi would give him more joy than any of the trophies he has won in his long career has.

Scolari, who has been out of work since leaving Cruzeiro for the second time in January 2021, following a three month spell, has been winning all sorts of trophies since 1989.

The 72-year-old is most famous for winning the World Cup with Brazil in 2002 and has also won the Copa Libertadores twice, with Gremio and Palmeiras, and the AFC Champions League with Guangzhou Evergrande.

However it seems that 'Big Phil' would throw them all in the bin if he could coach Barcelona star Messi at some point in his career.

Speaking to Super Deportivo Radio, the former Chelsea boss said, "Coaching Messi would give me more joy than all the titles I have earned as a coach."

The Brazilian also added another Argentina legend as someone he'd have wanted to coach, in Diego Maradona, adding, "I always say my outstanding accounts were to coach Maradona and Messi. I would have liked to share experiences with Maradona, beyond the fact I've been able to catch big players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldo or Figo, who were fantastic."

Despite his age, and the fact that he's managed 23 different teams over his career, including three national sides, Scolari, who nearly managed England after the World Cup on 2006, is still eyeing future jobs.

The renowned coach revealed he'd like to manage in Messi's home country of Argentina, for Boca Juniors. "I think I would identify myself with Boca," the former Portugal boss said, "It would be wonderful to have the opportunity to manage there.

"A year ago, when the club had [presidential] elections, I had a chance to coach Boca but that opportunity didn't eventuate. Beyond Brazil, I never had the opportunity to coach in South America and it would be ideal to finish my career there [at Boca]."

Though Messi has previously said he wants to leave Barcelona at the end of this season, if he did return to his home country it would unlikely be for Boca.

The six time Ballon d'Or winner started as a youth player at Newell's Old Boys at just seven-years-old and has previously said he'd like to play there again.

Messi has also been linked with PSG in the past and Scolari would like to see the 33-year-old playing alongside Neymar once again, adding, "I would like to see them together, but not at Barcelona. I would like it at PSG.

"It would be hard for other teams to contain that pair. There wouldn't be a game in which PSG didn't score. They are two genius."
