Kylian Mbappe ruthlessly scores five goals past sixth tier side Pays de Cassel

Mbappe broke a PSG record as played all 90 minutes in the Coupe de France, against far inferior opposition to the Ligue 1 champions.

Kylian Mbappe was not going to take it easy on PSG's opposition, even if they came from the sixth tier, as he scored five goals.

There could be no questions about whether or not PSG were taking the Coupe de France seriously or not on Monday night, as often happens in the FA Cup in England.

Like the English version, the French Cup can be quite the breeding ground for shocks due to the fact so many teams from the lower divisions take part, and they get the home draw.

Clearly Christophe Galtier had that in mind when he picked his team for the game against Pays de Cassel in the round of 32, picking an almost full strength side, despite the lack of Lionel Messi.

They had to contend with the added intrigue of playing against one of their own ultras, in Cassel's captain Alexis Zmijak, who'd scored their winning goal in the previous round.

Zmijak was worried about the possibility of him injuring Mbappe, especially with the big Champions League tie with Bayern Munich coming up, but he needn't have worried.

Mbappe became the first PSG player to score five goals in a game, as he fired his side into the last 16, with Neymar and Carlos Soler also on the scoresheet.

It was pretty ruthless from the champions to keep the man who scored a hat-trick in the World Cup final on for the full 90 minutes, and you can see all his goals in the highlights.

It took the French giants a while to get going, with the 24-year-old French superstar opening the scoring in the 29th minute, but by half time they were four goals up.

Neymar scored just four minutes later and Mbappe completed his hat-trick with goals in the 35th and 40th minutes, before the ref blew for the break.

The second half picked up where the previous one had left off, with the former Monaco player scoring again in the 56th minute.

Soler made it six just after the hour mark and Mbappe rounded off the scoring with 14 minutes still to go, thanks to an assist from Soler.

However, the Frenchman was still annoyed with himself with four minutes left of the game, when he missed a chance to score his sixth.

It seems like he has quickly got over the heartbreak of losing the World Cup final to club teammate Messi last month, having arrived back at his club very quickly.

He scored on his return to action against Strasbourg and has also enjoyed a break in New York, where he was able to hide amongst the crowds without being spotted.

On Monday he was caught jokingly recreating Emiliano Marintez's celebration for winning the Golden Glove award at the tournament in Qatar.

Martinez had been criticised for mocking the losing striker, despite the fact Mbappe put the ball past him four times, including his penalty in the shoot out, during the final.
