Karim Benzema has expressed his displeasure at modern football, slamming the focus on statistics and fans' attention spans.
Statistically speaking, Benzema is enjoying one of his best seasons having bagged an impressive 24 goals in 27 games in all competitions.
He's just eight goals away from equaling his best-scoring campaign at Real Madrid.
However, the 34-year-old doesn't like the concept of being judged on statistics as he highlighted what's wrong with football as it is today.
He also bemoaned the decline of fans' attention spans, calling attention to social media networks.
Speaking to France Football, Benzema explained: "We don't consume football like we used to. We can't follow a game for 90 minutes. There are social networks.
"We don't have time to look at what a player does on the pitch, we just look at what he scored.
"And the next day we consider the latter as the It's happened to me.
"I don't play a good game, but I score a goal and I'm seen as the best.
"I don't like that kind of football, but in the future, it will be more and more like that.
"Football has become a sport we only see statistics. I had to adapt."
Benzema almost went under the radar at Real during Cristiano Ronaldo's ultra-prolific era.
But the Frenchman has become the club's main man and is on course to have his best-scoring season in Spain.
He has 17 La Liga goals to his name, with 24 goals his best return in Spain's top flight.
