‘This Liverpool Team Isn’t What It Was. The Goalkeeper Is Man Of The Match Every Game’

‘This Liverpool Team Isn’t What It Was. The Goalkeeper Is Man Of The Match Every Game’

Liverpool are on a six-match winning streak, but one pundit isn't impressed.

Fabio Capello believes Liverpool are 'not the same side they were a few months ago' and says goalkeeper Alisson is Man of the Match every game.

The Reds are currently second in the Premier League and have won their last six games in all competitions.

Jurgen Klopp's side are also in the Carabao Cup final, FA Cup fifth round and Champions League last 16.

Reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan stand in their way on Wednesday evening and Capello thinks they shouldn't be worried.

"The current Liverpool is not the same side it was a few months ago," former England manager Capello explained on Sky Sport Italia per Liverpool Echo.

"Klopp said it was his strongest team? Well, he would say that, what do you expect him to say?

"The Liverpool goalkeeper has recently been Man of the Match in every game.

"That says a great deal about how they are defending."

January saw Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane away on Africa Cup of Nations duty, but the form of Diogo Jota and arrival of Luis Diaz from Porto lifted spirits.

It's arguably one of the strongest squads Klopp has had at his disposal in his five years in charge, but Paolo Di Canio is another man not impressed.

He's taken aim at Alisson in particular, saying he drops a 'howler' between the sticks every few games.

"Alisson performs heroics in goal, but every four or five games he has a bit of a howler," he claimed.

"Liverpool have weak points, every team does.”

Inter, like Liverpool, are second in their domestic league having drawn 1-1 with Napoli at the weekend.

They do have a game in hand on bitter rivals AC Milan at the top though.

Liverpool sit nine points behind Manchester City in the league but are in the hunt for three trophies.

Tonight's game will take place at the San Siro with the reverse leg being at Anfield on March 8.
