Jurgen Klopp Accused Of Disrespecting Nottingham Forest With 'Thick As S**t' Response To Question

Jurgen Klopp Accused Of Disrespecting Nottingham Forest With 'Thick As S**t' Response To Question

Klopp's side are in action against the Championship outfit this evening.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been accused of 'disrespecting' Championship side Nottingham Forest ahead of their FA Cup quarter-final clash.

The Reds are hoping to keep their quadruple dreams alive and take on Forest at the City Ground on Sunday evening.

Steve Cooper's side have already beaten Premier League opposition in this season's cup, knocking out Arsenal in round three and holders Leicester City in round four.

Liverpool are locked in an intense Premier League title race with Manchester City which will resume following the international break. While discussing that, Klopp made a comment about Forest which rubbed viewers the wrong way.

When asked about the international break he replied: "I would prefer to have the boys together for two weeks I can tell you, that would be much better. They obviously have a lot of important games to play, especially Sadio [Mane] and Mo [Salah].

"Let's hope and pray they come back healthy. Before we have an international break, we have an incredibly important game against Nottingham. My first time there.

"I know Nottingham only from when I was a kid watching Robin Hood! I always thought how it would look there. Probably no time for sight-seeing but still looking forward to it."

Forest are two-time European champions and won the trophy back-to-back in 1979 and 1980 under Brian Clough.

Supporters have taken issue with Klopp saying he only knows the town from Robin Hood, believing it's a lack of class.

One commented: Nottingham Forest won back to back European Cups when this man was growing up. It’s not for me to say if he’s being thick as s**t or disrespectful but on previous evidence I'm going for both."

Another added: "Complete disrespect. He knows exactly what he's up to."

A third put: "Ill-advised or ill-informed? Either way it’s disrespectful. He should be better than this."

While someone said: "There is your motivation Forest, do us a favour and win this weekend."

Some have defended Klopp though, as he grew up in the German countryside near the Black Forest.

He would've been a teenager when Forest won the European Cup and there's a high chance he was unaware of it.

Liverpool have a shot at an unprecedented quadruple, with the Carabao Cup already in their trophy cabinet.

They're through to the Champions League quarter-finals and sit one point behind City in the table.

The FA Cup semi-final draw will take place prior to tonight's clash.
