Mourinho is already a hero in the Italian capital after guiding Roma to Europa Conference League glory last season - their first major European trophy.
A pair of supporters were keen to meet the 59-year-old and did so prior to a pre-season training session, shaking his hand and taking pictures with Roma scarfs around their necks. Nobody was prepared for what came next.
As the woman started to get something out of her bag, the man brought her into view of the camera and held her hand while making sure Mourinho was in attendance. He can be heard saying: "Mr. Mourinho, un minuto," which translates to 'one minute' in English.
Mourinho and his coaching staff were perplexed, but quickly realised what was going on. The man went down on one knee and asked for the woman's hand in marriage.
She accepted in floods of tears and everyone clapped with huge smiles on their face.
Fans have had their say and they were loving Mourinho's involvement.
One person said: "Another title for Jose, pastor. The man keeps on winning."
Another tweeted: "Jose was so awkward lol."
A third put: "Probably the most random post about Jose I've ever seen."
While someone added: "The way he tried to bounce after the picture I'm crying."
Earlier this week, Mourinho unveiled a tattoo which 'only he can have' right now.
'The Special One' is the only man to lift the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League and his new ink pay tribute to those feats.
Mourinho has got all three trophies tattooed on him as well as the colours of the teams he won each trophy with.
During his time at Porto, he lifted the Europa League and Champions League before going on to lift the latter with Inter Milan .
He won the Europa League again in 2017, this time with Manchester United, before lifting the Europa Conference League with Roma back in May.
Alongside the design of the tattoo, he wrote on Instagram: "This is my tattoo. The joy of the Roman people led me to do it. Then I thought about something special, something that would honour all the clubs where I won European competitions.
"At the same time, I wanted a unique tattoo, one that, so far, I am the only one who can have it…
"Alberto showed me some proposals, I just changed a few details. Here is my tattoo."
