Compilation Of Harry Maguire's Performance vs Hungary Emerges, Fans Think They've Been Too Harsh On Him

A compilation of Harry Maguire's performance in England's 1-0 defeat to Hungary in the Nations League has emerged and fans think they've gone overboard with their criticism.

The Manchester United captain had a dismal domestic season and was fiercely criticised by fans and pundits alike.

Maguire always shows up for England however and was picked in Gareth Southgate's squad for four games this month.

He started on Saturday evening, putting in a confident display at the back. Check out the highlights below.

Maguire always wanted the ball and was willing to drive forward and assist the Three Lions attack.

The 29-year-old has ability with the ball at his feet and regularly pinged passes out to the wing-backs with great accuracy.

It's the polar opposite to his performances at Old Trafford, which have often been frantic and lacking in composure.

Supporters have had their say and they're starting to think they've been too harsh on Maguire.

One commented: "Only people who follow internet narratives don't rate him he's genuinely good."

A second tweeted: "United fans are gonna be in shock when he gets regular football under Ten Hag. I haven’t written him off yet."

Another added: "United are the new Spurs. Ruining every good footballer we’ve bought."

While someone summed it up with: "Nothing wrong with Harry. Guy just suffering from playing in a poor United side."

England did slip to their first defeat against Hungary in 60 years after Reece James was judged to have fouled Zsolt Nagy inside the penalty area.

Dominik Szoboszlai stepped up to fire past Jordan Pickford and seal all three points inside the Puskas Arena.

Southgate was unhappy with the penalty decision in his post-match interview and called it 'harsh'.

He told Channel 4: "I think it’s harsh. You see challenges like that in the box where he has just gone across to get his body between him and the ball and the forward just makes a meal of it.

"But away from home, sometimes you are going to get those calls."

England handed debuts to Leicester City defender James Justin and West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen after fine club campaigns.

It'd end in misery for Justin however with the 24-year-old substituted at half-time after sustaining a calf injury.
