An awkward interview with John Arne Riise has turned out to be a prank by the TV show he was appearing on.

Stadium Astro is a popular Malaysian programme and they interviewed the former Liverpool left back recently.

You've probably seen the 'interview' with the host Amanda Chaang apparently having absolutely no knowledge of who he was, what team he played for and why he did certain things throughout his career - including never winning the English Premier League title.

Watch Riise's response to being asked what it was like to win the Premier League title even though he didn't, and also whether or not his own goal against Chelsea in the 2008 Champions League semi-final was scored on purpose:

Riise was introduced as being a right-footed Manchester United legend and asked whether or not he is related to Ed Sheeran. Basically, everything went wrong and Riise ended up storming out.

You can check out the entirety of the interview here:

The whole thing was a big April Fools prank, where the host was asked to deliver the interview from hell.

However, what she didn't know was that Riise was in on the prank and was well aware of what Amanda was slated to do. It was a prank on a prank, if you will.

The following clip explains the whole thing, with Riise being brought in on the prank, storming out and leaving the host feeling as though she needed to apologise to him and let him know it was a work, before the Norwegian informed her that he knew everything and that the prank was on her:

Fair play to Riise for getting involved with it - we just wish he'd carried it on for a bit longer and made it a little more excruciating for the host.
