James Milner Shows Funny Side Again After Hilarious Own Goal

The Liverpool midfielder will be laughing all the way to the Champions League final

I'm starting to think I'd like to see James Milner do a stand up set. Once again the Liverpool midfielder shocked everyone with his humorous side after Liverpool beat Roma to reach the Champions League final.

For a long time James Milner was just a character to be poked fun at. The former Manchester City and Aston Villa player rarely did interviews and his dour Yorkshire accent and playing style made everyone assume he was boring.

The only social media presence he had was a parod Twitter account called Boring James Milner which made his sound like the dullest and stupidest man on the planet, it was pretty funny at times.

Whilst it still exists it's now not the funniest James Milner Twitter account because that one belongs to the man himself.

Speaking of funny the Englishman accidentally scored one of life's more hilarious own goals on Wednesday night as Liverpool knocked Roma out of the Champions League. The ball was fired into his face by Dejan Lovren before going into the net.

Milner took to Twitter to laugh at the situation:

His recent social media takes may have taken him ahead of the likes of Peter Crouch, Benjamin Mendy, Michy Batshuayi and Gary Lineker as our favourite footballing personality on social media.

Despite Milner's ridiculous own goal, a brace for Radja Nainggolan and a goal for Edin Dzeko the Reds did manage to hang on to win 7-6 on aggregate and set up a rerun of the 1981 European Cup final when the English side beat Real Madrid.

After the match Milner proved that his comedy isn't just when he's got 280 characters on social media as he joked about how he would be celebrating the win:

Right now they'll be a lot of laughs within the Liverpool squad but it'll all get a lot more serious on May 26th in Kyiv.

Will Milner and Liverpool be celebrating after the final?
