Liverpool take on Fulham today in their opening game of their 2022/2023 Premier League season.

One of the most esteemed and looked forward to dates in the footballing calendar, the opening matchweek of the Premier League, provides a tough fixture for newly promoted Fulham as they host Jurgen Klopp’s domestic double winners.

The Premier League and Champions League runners-up were victorious in the Community Shield over Manchester City last weekend, with goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and the Kop’s new signing, Darwin Nunez, which will give hope that Uruguayan hitman can lead the Reds' new evolution.

Fulham were one of the most exciting teams to watch in English football last season, blowing away the second tier with their fluid attacking style under ex-Everton boss Marco Silva.

Aleksandar Mitrovic bagged a record 43 goals at a quite unbelievable strike rate, and he will look to finally find his feet at the top level this term.

The Cottagers, however, lost Fabio Carvalho to today's opponents, but do boast ex-Red Harry Wilson in their arsenal.

Liverpool will be without Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calvin Ramsay for certain, whilst Ibrahima Konate and Kostas Tsimikas are doubtful.

Fulham will be without the aforementioned Wilson, who is out for two months with a knee injury.

Joe Bryan and Nathaniel Chalobah are also sidelined. Marco Silva also said that his side have only two central defenders fit for the clash.

Fulham vs Liverpool referee and match officials

Referee

Andy Madley will be the man in the middle at Craven Cottage. Madley has been the referee for five Liverpool matches in the past, with the Reds on the winning side in every fixture.

The most recent victory came in the FA Cup fourth round win over Cardiff City in February.

Assistant referees

Dan Cook and Derek Eaton will be the assistants to Madley, with Tony Harrington the fourth official.

Stuart Attwell will be the VAR official for the match, which kicks off at 12:30.
