Former PSG And Barcelona Star 'Closing In On' Chelsea Transfer

Former PSG And Barcelona Star 'Closing In On' Chelsea Transfer

Thomas Tuchel appears to have his man.

Chelsea are reportedly 'closing in on' the signing of a former Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona star this month.

Thomas Tuchel is in the market for new talent following Ben Chilwell's long-term injury diagnosis

He's out for the rest of the season, with Marcos Alonso his only recognisable left wing-back.

But it appears the Blues boss will dip into the market to snap up Lucas Digne to fill Chilwell's void, according to El Nacional

The Everton man has fallen out with Rafael Benitez, paving the way to a potential transfer away from Goodison Park.

Digne, 28, has been an Everton regular since his switch from Barcelona in 2018.

But he's been frozen out of the team following his falling out with Benitez. He had played 10 league games before clashing with his manager.

Digne, who also enjoyed a two-year spell at PSG, is known for his quality delivery so he could fit nicely into Tuchel's system.

Further reports had suggested Tuchel had been keen on recalling Emerson Palmieri from his loan spell at Lyon.

But the French club have turned down Chelsea's request, with Tuchel having his say on the situation.

He said: "I'm so happy for him, the guy suffers all the time from my decision.

"We have three players for one position with Marcos Alonso, Ben Chilwell and Emerson.

"So, we started to play with a back three and chose different players so he only had the chance to show up in one cup game, which he did.

"After some days where he needed to settle to new information and a new style, he is training with an unbelievable effort. He is one of the nicest guys you can imagine."
