Thierry Henry has been linked with a shock managerial job that he could take up after the Olympics.

Next month, Arsenal legend Henry will lead the France football team in the 2024 Olympic Games, which will take place in Paris.

Back in August 2023, the 46-year-old was appointed manager of France’s U21 side, which meant he would also lead the U23 and Olympic teams.

Ahead of the Olympics, it has been claimed that Henry is one of the names being considered by the Welsh Football Association.

Last week, it was confirmed that Wales have parted ways with Rob Page after three and a half years in charge.

Page’s future was plunged into doubt after his side failed to secure a place in Euro 2024.

As reported by the BBC, the Welsh FA are looking to take their time to find a perfect replacement and want to hire a big name. Henry, who enjoyed a stellar career as a player, would fit the bill.

However, it is believed that the FAW will not be able to offer the Frenchman a huge salary but they are still hopeful of convincing Henry to take over.

Former Wales striker Robert Earnshaw said on BBC Wales’ Elis James’ Feast of Football podcast: “I spent some time with Thierry on the coaching course a couple of years ago because he was on the Welsh FA course.

“He knows [FAW chief football officer] David Adams and the set-up, and he understands Welsh football. The one thing that stood out when I was sat with Thierry was his football brain is brilliant.”

He added: “With France Under-21s and the Olympic team, he understands young players. He would raise the bar and the level. I don't know whether he would want it. I could see someone like Thierry doing it. His football brain is brilliant, he's so sharp, advanced and has got great ideas.”
