Morgan Gibbs-White was visibly emotional as he paid tribute to team-mate Elliot Anderson following the passing of his mother before Nottingham Forest's 1-0 win over FC Porto on Thursday.
Gibbs-White scored in the 11th minute at the City Ground to send Forest through to the Europa League semi-finals, where they will take on Aston Villa.
During his goal celebration, he held up Anderson's number eight shirt, which was adorned with the words 'Family first, we are all with you'.
Anderson was unavailable for the match following his mother's passing, with Forest making the announcement via an official club statement before the match.

"Everyone at Nottingham Forest Football Club extends its deepest condolences to Elliot and his family following this extremely sad news," the club wrote.
"Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the Anderson family at this difficult time."
During his post-match interview with TNT reporter Liam MacDevitt at the City Ground, Gibbs-White - who captained Forest in the absence of Ryan Yates - was asked about his club and England team-mate.
"Yeah, really emotional night." he said. "It's a shame. It's a big shame, because he's an incredible kid.
"Nobody deserves this, no-one. We're all with him."
Gibbs-White's voice cracked as he was delivering his response, showing just how emotional a night it was for all of Anderson's team-mates amid their huge victory.
Forest haven't been in a European semi-final since reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup under Brian Clough in 1984.
"We knew it was going to be difficult, and I think we got fortunate with them going down to 10 men [Porto's Jan Bednarek was sent off on eight minutes]," Gibbs-White said.
"But it's an incredible win tonight, and we go ahead to the semi-final, which this club fully deserves.
"100 per cent, this is one of the best nights I've had at the City Ground, so thanks to the fans, to everyone that's made it happen.
"We got into a task at the start of the season to take this competition full-on. We're doing that. I feel like we deservedly got the win today.
"Now we rest, relax and focus on the league on Sunday."
