Manchester United takeover is 'still ongoing' with 'multiple parties' involved

The process is still ongoing.

The Manchester United takeover process is still ongoing, according to a new report - and there are said to be 'raised prospects' of a certain type of sale.

The takeover process has been ongoing, with several types of bids involved.

Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim - through his Nine Two Foundation - has made five offers for a full takeover of the club, while British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants a majority stake.

There are also minority investors involved in the race to purchase a stake in United - although there has been little movement in the process for several months.

On Tuesday, i reported that the process had been 'paused' - at least as far as one of the two main bidders was concerned.

It was claimed that the club's current owners, the Glazer family, are of the belief that new TV deals, the growth of football in the United States and the new Champions League format will all add value to the club.

The Glazers are reportedly wanting £6 billion to sell United - an amount bidders are said to yet to have reached.

Man Utd takeover 'ongoing'

According to the Daily Mail's Mike Keegan, the takeover process is still ongoing - with the Glazers negotiating with 'multiple parties'. As per some of those close to Sheikh Jassim's bid, there is said to be confidence that he will be successful.

It is claimed there is now a 'raised prospect' of the Glazers potentially selling part of their stake to a minority investor, however.

That is said to be due to the difference in asking price and the bids that the owners have currently received from interested parties.

Such a takeover would allow precious funds to be made available for a long-planned redevelopment of Old Trafford.

According to a Manchester Evening News report from March, Joel Glazer is in favour of renovating the club's stadium rather than building a new one.

Several plans are said to be on the table, including redeveloping each stand individually, potentially demolishing the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand altogether, or adding a third tier to the Stretford End.
