Manchester City could reportedly face more than 115 charges for allegedly breaching the Premier League’s financial rules.

Back in February 2023, it was announced that City have been charged with 115 separate breaches of the Premier League's Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, dating back to 2009 and running until 2018.

During that time, City won seven major trophies including three Premier League titles.

At the time of the announcement, City released a statement declaring that they deny all charges.

However, it was recently claimed that City are actually facing more than 115 charges.

Financial expert and former City advisor Stefan Borson said on the We’re Not Really Here - A Manchester City Podcast on the BBC: “115 is actually, straightaway, is 130. But because of an early error from the Premier League and early media briefings it became 115. It's the most serious allegations.”

He wrote on social media last year: “Pedantic point (not for everyone): "The fact that '115 CHARGES' is trumpeted means it likely came from the PL's media briefing. Because it isn't 115 on any normal counting... it is 129 or 130 (technical 2009/10 point).”

SPORTbible has contacted the Premier League for comment.

Previously speaking about the charges, City boss Pep Guardiola said: “We are innocent and people have to know we are innocent until the sentence.”

When asked about his future, he said: “I will answer when I have the sentence. You are questioning like we have been punished. And in the moment we are innocent until guilt is proved. I know the people want it. I know, I feel it. I will wait. Wait and see it and after the sentence has been done we will come here and explain it.

“But absolutely I will not consider my future [if] it depends on being here [Premier League] or being in League One. Absolutely. There is more chance to stay if we are in League One than if we were in the Champions League.”
