Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister has responded to rumours linking him away from Anfield following reports of a potential move to Real Madrid.

Mac Allister only made the move to Liverpool from Brighton last summer, and the Argentine has been one of the standout players for Jurgen Klopp in his final season at the club.

The World Cup winner has played in numerous roles across the Liverpool midfield this season, playing excellently in a much deeper role than he has previously been used to for the majority of the season.

The 25-year-old scored five times and also provided five assists in the Premier League this season which included an absolute rocket against Fulham.

Recent reports from DSPORTS Radio claim that Mac Allister is a target for Real Madrid who will be looking to replace the retiring Toni Kroos. The Argentine reportedly has a rather humble £60 million release clause in his contract.

Mac Allister commented on this recent speculation surrounding his future while on International duty with Argentina.

“I’m not talking about assumptions, I’m very happy with Liverpool,” he told ESPN.

“I think it was a good season individually, then we had some objectives that we couldn’t meet, but even so I think it was a very good season."

The Liverpool midfielder was named in Argentina's 29-man provisional squad ahead of the Copa America next month.

“I’m happy for the call-up, it is always a pride to be in the national team, so I am very happy,” he added.

Departing Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also recently spoke on Mac Allister's impact on the Liverpool squad this season.

“It’s how he interacts with the other boys, how he took the South American outfield player department under his wings without telling them what to do but just naturally," Klopp said.

“I loved him from the first moment when we met, before we signed him. I met his dad before we signed him and the football understanding in his family is obviously second to none."
