Jordan Henderson has been spotted back at a Premier League club just months after joining Ajax.

Henderson departed Liverpool in the summer transfer window last year, ending his 13-year association with the Merseyside club as Jurgen Klopp looked to inject new life into his midfield.

Things did not go to plan for Henderson, who linked up with former teammate Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, with his contract being terminated after just a matter of months in the Middle East.

The 33-year-old opted to move to the Eredivisie with Ajax but his fortunes haven’t improved much, winning just one game in nine appearances so far.

It was revealed by Ajax manager Johannes van’t Schip that Henderson had suffered an injury after the recent international break, with the midfielder staying in England to continue his rehabilitation.

In order to build his fitness, The Daily Mail report Henderson was spotted back at Liverpool at their AXA Training Centre, being put through his paces during a one-to-one session.

The report claims Henderson’s presence back at the club he captained for a number of years delighted Liverpool’s young academy players.

Henderson will hope to put his fitness issues behind him ahead of this summer’s EURO 2024 tournament with Gareth Southgate visiting the Netherlands to keep track of his progress in Amsterdam.

Speaking about his chances of making the England squad, Henderson said: “It was good for him to come and watch to see that he’s keeping an eye on me.

"It's always a privilege for me to play for my country and I want to do that as long as possible but ultimately I've got to focus on my job here and if I'm doing that well and performing well then that gives me the best possible opportunity to get in the England squad.

"I have just got to continue to play well here and stay fit and hopefully I will get the opportunity to do that, because playing for my country is a huge thing and always has been."
