At the time, no one guessed the huge impact Vincent Kompany would have on Manchester City when he arrived at the club ten years ago.
The Hamburger SV defender transferred to City for just £6 million and it's fair to say, his move has been a massive success. He has captained City during the greatest ever period in their history, winning countless trophies with the Citizens while donning the captain's armband.
In this time, the Belgium international has won three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and three League Cups.
Indeed, Kompany has been one of the major figureheads at the club. At the Etihad, he has grown hugely popular with supporters and is instrumental in leading his team-mates.

He has struggled with injury problems in the later stages of his career, but instead of giving up, he has constantly battled against his body, putting hours of training in to ensure he keeps up to match sharpness.
But it's not just his on the pitch presence which is important. The 32-year-old is a big influence in the dressing room, too, as was clear in the recent Amazon Primer documentary 'All or Nothing: Manchester City'.
City enjoyed their best ever season last campaign, winning the league title while smashing a number of Premier League records. The question remains, however, whether they can continue their impressive run this season.
