Arsenal have been linked with a shock move for Jesse Lingard - should they not be able to keep Martin Odegaard beyond this season.

Lingard is currently on loan at West Ham from Manchester United and has eight goals as well as four assists with the Hammers.

It is believed they're keen to make his move permanent at the end of this season and want to open a dialogue with United.

There is no option to buy in the deal and Evening Standard have claimed the Gunners could slide in during the summer.

West Ham are currently above Arsenal in the Premier League table but Mikel Arteta could be in the hunt for a new midfielder.

Odegaard is on loan from Real Madrid until the end of this campaign and it's believed 'Los Blancos' want him to return, although talks aren't set to commence until this summer.

The 22-year-old has impressed since joining in January and regularly starts in attacking midfield.

When it comes to Lingard, the England international has enjoyed games at the Emirates Stadium for United.

He scored twice in a 3-1 win back in 2017 while also making it his 'dancefloor' during an FA Cup clash in 2019.

Lingard's deal at parent club United expires in 2022 and he's currently living in London following his move.

A change of scenery has rejuvenated his career and close bonds with Mark Noble and Declan Rice have been formed.

He told beIN Sport: "I think environment is a big thing. My house in Manchester is low down, you go down into the kitchen, it's dark and in like a bunker.

"You being in that environment week in, week out, you know nothing else.

"Since I've moved to London I'm in an apartment where I'm high, there's lots of light, I can see all the buildings in London, it makes you more bright and fresh."

Lingard scored twice in the first half against Leicester City on Sunday afternoon to keep up his red hot form.

It comes after his performance against Wolves on Monday when he scored an incredible solo goal while busting out a 'Dimitar Berbatov spin' in the build-up to the second.

Do you think Jesse Lingard will leave Manchester United? If so, where will he go?
