Welcome to the UK, home of American sports! After years of basketball and American football getting an airing over here we're now due to get two Major League Baseball games in 2019.

There was a time when American sports were at best niche in the UK. We only cared about quarter pounders, not quarterbacks. The only three pointers we paid attention to were on a Saturday at 3pm, or any of the other many kick off times.

But these days it seems like half the country stays up to watch the NFL's Super Bowl, whether they're actually watching the football or trying to making a joke about Superb Owls is still questionable in fairness.

The NFL also bring three games over these shores on a yearly basis and with the potential purchase of Wembley we could soon see a franchise based over here.

NBA has often brought games over to the country as well and now Major League Baseball is set to add two marquee matches to the English sporting summer in 2019.

The league today revealed that the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will play two matches at West Ham's London Stadium on 29th and 30th June 2019 with plans to play again in 2020.

The stadium was of course built for the Olympics in 2012 and has since been used for the Anniversary Games as well as the Athletics World Championships last summer.

It is also the home of West Ham and the athletics events being held their has led to the Hammers having to play the first couple of games away from home as the ground gets put back into a functioning football stadium but that won't be the case when the MLB comes to town.

It was originally thought that the stadium would play host to games at next year's Cricket World Cup, which will take place in England from 30th May to 15th July but it was not named as one of the venues.

The baseball games will be the first regular season matches to take place in Europe and it seems the long term plan is to have more games in the future.

Who knew that the UK would be the best place to watch American sports.
