Lampard Makes His Combined XI with Manchester City 2018 and Chelsea 2005

It's hard to argue with any of these choices, really.

Frank Lampard has selected his combined eleven from arguably two of the greatest Premier League sides: Chelsea's 2004-05 team and the Manchester City side of 2017-18.

The former midfielder played for Chelsea for 13 years but ended his time in England at Man City, where he played for a single season.

The Blues legend was asked by BBC Sport to compile his best eleven out of the two clubs who have earned the highest points total in a Premier League season.

Pep Guardiola's men beat Chelsea's record of 95 points after a 3-1 victory over Brighton and could extend the lead by five (to 100 points) if they can earn a win over relegation-battling Southampton. Very possible and it will see the points total for the Premier League reach triple digits for the first time.

Now Lampard has made his first-team eleven based on the two teams in a 4-4-2 pyramid formation.

The usual suspects are in there. Petr Cech is in goal and has veteran players John Terry and Vincent Kompany in front of him at centre-back. Brick wall.

At right-back is Kyle Walker, who has had a great season with his new club.

Left-back is a surprise appearance of William Gallas - he goes in favour of Benjamin Mendy and Wayne Bridge.

Lampard's midfield choices are incredible. The much-admired Frenchman Claude Makelele goes in at defensive midfield. In front of him are David Silva, Kevin de Bruyne, and Lampard himself. He played in every single one of Chelea's 38 Premier League games and scored 13 goals to boot.

Up front, Lamps has gone for Didier Drogba, who was in only his first season at Chelsea in 2004, and Sergio Aguero, who's made only 25 starts out of a possible 38 this season.

It's certainly a solid selection for Lampard, but do you agree with him? Let us know in the comments section.
