Anthony Martial is being kept on the fringes of the Manchester United first-team by boss Jose Mourinho and now reports suggest that he's looking for a way out.

The attacker has fallen into the small group of disenfranchised players Mourinho has kept out of the first-team because of inconsistent performances or lack of effort, with Luke Shaw, Daley Blind, Paul Pogba as all members.

And because of this, Martial is trying to engineer a move away from Old Trafford. Reports suggest that he's refused a new contract with the Red Devils and the likes of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are allegedly keen on bringing him in.

It's also been revealed that Martial was a name mentioned when Sanchez was attempting to break free of his shackles at Arsenal.

A report in The Times claims that the French international was unhappy that he wasn't allowed to speak to Arsenal in January.

The Gunners entertained the idea of bringing him to the Emirates Stadium as part of the exchange deal with Alexis Sanchez. But his is didn't happen and Henrikh Mkhitaryan made the move to North London instead, leaving Martial frustrated still further.

To make matters worse, it was Sanchez's arrival at Man United that has caused Martial to be marginalised out the team.

"It is understood that Martial was disappointed at not having the chance to discuss a move to Arsenal in January, when the London club raised the possibility of including the forward in the swap deal that led to Henrikh Mkhitaryan leaving Old Trafford instead," Paul Hirst wrote in The Times.

Martial will have to stay at his current side until the transfer window reopens in the summer. Man United may be swayed by big offers from rival clubs but it would be in their interested to keep ahold of the 22-year-old.

But who knows, maybe talks between Mourinho and the 22-year-old in that time could see him stay at the club for a while longer?
