Bruno Fernandes will become Barcelona's top transfer target IF they fail to sign Erling Haaland in the summer, according to stunning reports.

Barca are hellbent on securing the services of Haaland, but they face stiff competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City.

However, the Catalan giants have a contingency transfer plan in place if they do not get their man.

Spanish outlet El Nacional via The Daily Mail say the club will turn their attention to the Manchester United star if their pursuit of the Borussia Dortmund phenom does not come to fruition.

Fernandes, 27, was a revelation for the first 18 months of his spell at Old Trafford.

But he's failed to replicate the same form this campaign, scoring just five goals in all competitions this term having bagging an impressive 28 goals last season.

He was resigned to a spot on the bench for his side's last Premier League game against Wolves, with talks of a potential exit mooted.

Former Man United midfielder Paul Ince reckons the Portuguese maestro could leave at the end of the season as he slammed the team.

He told The United Stand: "Ronaldo’s got a year left, he’s not the future. Nor is [Edinson] Cavani. [Paul] Pogba could be gone. Bruno [Fernandes] could go.

"You look at the players that are playing now. Fred isn’t good enough, we know that. [Scott] McTominay isn’t good enough, we know that. [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka has lost all his confidence, he’s not the right choice. [Jadon] Sancho looks miles off it.

"If you bring a new manager in, you’ve got to change 80 per cent of the team and still try to keep up to Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea’s standards.

"Manchester United have got a long, long way to go, and I can’t see Ralf Rangnick being in charge next year."
