Jurgen Klopp Made To Look A Fool After Comments On Coutinho Resurface

Jurgen Klopp might regret some previous comments he made regarding the future of Philippe Coutinho.

Throughout Barcelona's long pursuit of the Brazilian in the summer, Klopp regularly stressed that his star player would not be leaving the club.

That proved to be the case, with Coutinho staying put and dazzling for Liverpool, scoring 12 goals and chipping in with eight assists.

But the rumours were rampant again as soon as the January transfer window opened and news broke earlier today that Coutinho to Barcelona for £142 million is a done deal - and that the 25-year old is travelling to Spain to finalise the move.

And Klopp has been made to look a little silly, following his comments in his first press conference after the summer transfer window closed.

"I wasn't manager when Suarez was sold, I wasn't manager when Sterling was sold. I'm manager now, and we're not selling Coutinho," Klopp said.

While he was right then, Liverpool's stance on Coutinho has inevitably changed and it's not exactly shown him in the best light.

Rival fans have been quick to bring up the aforementioned quote Klopp served up:

Unlucky, Jurgen. Best get looking for a replacement to spend that £142 million on!
