Arsenal Dealt Big Injury Blow During International Week

Arsenal Dealt Big Injury Blow During International Week

The last thing Arsene Wenger would have wanted is such a major player being injured for any significant amount of time.

After 180 of the most uninspiring minutes of football you're likely to see you'd be forgiven for thinking it's just England fans who hate international football but you can definitely add Arsene Wenger's name to that list.

It might be becoming a bit of a cliche to say that everyone hates international football and we're all waiting for the domestic leagues and Champions League to start up again in the next 10 days but there's a reason for the cliche.

Sure there's some exciting games like the 3-4 played out between Bosnia and Belgium but more often than not, especially when you're English, you're likely to get a very average 1-0 win. Yes we love the World Cup and Euros but boy do these 'international breaks' drag.

At least it's not just the fans who must be hating them. Club managers will be waiting with baited breath to find out which of their players come back from national duty still in tact.

And Arsene Wenger will not be happy with the news that Shkodran Mustafi will be missing for a while after limping off during Germany's 5-1 win over Azerbaijan last night. Joachim Low gave an update on the player after the match saying:

"With Mustafi it seems that it is muscle tear or some muscle fibre tear. In any case it could force him to a longer break."

Clearly the central defender will miss this weekend's game but it's not known exactly how long he'll be out for but it doesn't sound good. The 25 year old has been playing as part of a back three for the Gunners recently.

Unsurprisingly Arsenal fans aren't happy with the news, not helped by the fact it was a meaningless game for Germany as they'd already qualified for Russia next summer:

At least club football is back soon, for a month until the next international break- yay!
