Liverpool fans think Erik ten Hag got away with the same behaviour as Jurgen Klopp at Brighton as Manchester United suffered a crushing defeat.

The Red Devils conceded a goal in the 99th minute as Brighton ran out 1-0 winners at the AMEX Stadium on Thursday.

Ten Hag's side remain in a Champions League spot but are just four points ahead of Liverpool, who have found some form having won their last five league games.

One of those victories includes a thrilling back-and-forth battle with Tottenham, where Klopp exploded on the touchline following Diogo Jota's dramatic winner.

Ten Hag also cut an angry figure on the touchline at Brighton, with Liverpool supporters unhappy with his reaction to the linesman.

They called out his antics and claimed there'd be an uproar had the German done the same thing.

One Twitter user wrote: "Is it time that manager’s were made to sit in the stands like at rugby?"

A second tweeted: "Because it’s not Klopp nobody saying anything."

A third added: "One rule for him one rule for Klopp."

A fourth said: "Not defending him but Klopp gets charged and is demanded a response for this."

Another commented: "Well let's see if the pundits, journalists and the FA have anything to say about this."

Klopp has since been charged by the FA over his comments about match referee Paul Tierney.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, spoke of his frustration after his team's defeat and hit out at Brighton's style of play.

"Every defeat is a disappointment but in the end when you lose in the last second, that is of course annoying," he said.

"And I think the first minute sums everything up. We create a good chance, we were not clinical enough, then in the attack after we concede a big chance by a giveaway from us, the ball on the head for David.

"And in the end, we also gave away the goal and that's annoying because if you can't win because you don't finish your opportunities then don't lose.

"The annoying thing is that the free-kick before (the corner) is never a free-kick and I have seen really bad tackles today, sometimes without whistles as well."

The Dutchman added: "Every attack you make, they kick you and then from a fair block it's a free-kick and it's a corner and then it's a disappointing handball in the dying seconds and you can't react any more.

"It's not about me to give a judgement about the ref. We lost this game, we make a mistake in the end and we didn't take our chances but of course there are some disappointments."
