Emmanuel Giménez Breaks The Net With 'Perfect' Penalty In Copa Argentina Shootout

Emmanuel Giménez Breaks The Net With 'Perfect' Penalty In Copa Argentina Shootout

It looked like a FIFA glitch.

Racing de Cordoba midfielder Emmanuel Gimenez broke the net [no, really] with an absolute screamer during their dramatic Copa Argentina penalty shootout against San Lorenzo.

Both sides could not be seperated over 120 minutes in the Argentine cup first-round clash but despite being the underdogs on Wednesday night, third division side Racing managed to convert all four penalties to pull off a monumental upset.

San Lorenzo, who play in Argentina's first-tier, missed the chance to progress after Alejandro Donatti and Agustín Martegani scuffed their spot kicks.

Carlos 'Chiquito' Bossio's side gave San Lorenzo a lesson in how to take a penalty at the Estadio Pedro Bidegain.

And arguably the best spot-kick of them all came from 38-year-old midfielder Gimenez, who left the goalkeeper with no chance after leathering his penalty,

In fact, such was the venom behind his strike, Gimenez left a gaping hole in the middle of the net. You can see footage of his 'perfect' penalty below.

Racing de Cordoba's official Twitter account posted pitchside footage of the moment alongside the caption: "The definition of penalties from the inside."

The question remains – is Gimenez's penalty better than the one Djibril Cisse converted during his time at Greek club Panathinaikos?

The former Liverpool and Queens Park Rangers, whose most recent clubs were third division Swiss side Yverdon and A.C. Vicenza 1902 of Italy's Serie D, belted it right into the top right corner.

In fact, the ball even stopped in that corner for a few seconds. It was a very satisfying watch, as you can see below.

Thoughts on that penalty from Emmanuel Gimenez?
