‘He can’t keep getting away with it’, angry mum tells FA to give right punishment to Cristiano Ronaldo

The Manchester United star has been charged by the FA.

The mum of the son who saw his phone smashed out of his hands by Cristiano Ronaldo has urged the Football Association to give out the right punishment.

Ronaldo has been charged by the FA after footage emerged showing him knocking a phone out of 14-year-old Jacob Kelly’s hand in frustration after United suffered a 1-0 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park.

As a result of Ronaldo’s action, Jacob was left with a bruised hand and a broken phone.

And now, Jacob’s mum, Sarah has spoken about the incident.

She said to the Daily Mirror: “Let's hope he finally gets the right punishment. He can't keep getting away with it. His behaviour is unacceptable.”

Sarah also labelled the police caution for assault and criminal damage that Ronaldo received as the ‘tiniest slap on the wrist’.

Last Friday, the FA revealed that Ronaldo has been charged for breaching the FA Rule E3 for ‘improper and/or violent’ conduct.

On the back of the announcement, Sarah said that she and her son has been targeted by Ronaldo fans after their ‘six months of hell’.

She said: “I’m being hounded by people saying I'm dragging it up again but I didn't know anything about it.

“He should have been dealt with six months ago. My son talks about what happened to him every day. He still hasn't had his phone back.”

Merseyside Police have paid for the repair works on Jacob’s broken phone, a decision that irked Sarah, who felt Ronaldo should have paid for it.

She added: “He should have paid for that. He's the one who caused all this.

“It baffles me – he can assault a child and carry on as normal. How can he sleep at night knowing the distress he has caused to a young fan?”

Sarah then revealed that Ronaldo is yet received a proper apology from the five time Ballon d’Or winner.

She continued: “He offered us to meet him and said he was sorry but said he had done nothing wrong. That's not an apology, that's an insult.”

Ronaldo posted an apology on his Instagram account after the incident.

The Portuguese wrote: “I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship.”
