Cristiano Ronaldo's Agent Meeting With Man City Today To Discuss Transfer

Cristiano Ronaldo's Agent Meeting With Man City Today To Discuss Transfer

Could Cristiano Ronaldo be playing for Manchester City next season?

Cristiano Ronaldo's agent will reportedly meet with Manchester City bosses this week to propose a sensational deal to sign the Portuguese phenomenon.

The Juventus forward has just ten months left to run on his £25.5m-a-year contract at the Old Lady, with his future in Turin far from certain.

And now, in an extraordinary turn of events, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes will, according to reports in Italy, meet with the City hierarchy to offer them the chance to sign the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Ronaldo, who is nearing the age of 37, has frequently been linked with a return to Real Madrid or a blockbuster move to Paris Saint-Germain, to join fellow Ballon d’Or-hauler Lionel Messi.

But on Tuesday night, Ronaldo took to social media to quash any transfer speculation surrounding him by posting a lengthy statement on Instagram.

During his rant, the Juve forward condemned the media for linking him with a host of clubs and even labelled the speculation as “disrespectful” before affirming his intentions to remain focussed on his career.

It comes after Italian publication Corriere dello Sport claimed that Mendes offered the Manchester United legend to their noisy neighbours.

On Thursday, the same publication claimed that Mendes "won’t give up" on the prospect of Ronaldo joining - and could even fly to Manchester to fight his cause.

Intriguingly, with City coming no closer to signing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur, Pep Guardiola will be wary that a new forward is needed before the transfer window slams shut in just under two weeks.

Just like Kane, Ronaldo would arrive with the promise of goals after finishing last season as Serie A's top scorer with 29 goals.

During his three years with Juve, Ronaldo has scored an impressive 101 goals in just 133 appearances across all competitions - solid proof that age is just a number.

But any potential switch to the the blue side of Manchester would shatter the legendary status that Ronaldo enjoys at Old Trafford.

So far, though, this transfer window has thrown up some rather strange moves up in the air, but could this be the strangest one of them all? Watch this space.
