Jordan Peterson says he helped 'friend' Cristiano Ronaldo's mental health

Jordan Peterson says he helped 'friend' Cristiano Ronaldo's mental health

Ronaldo shared an image of the pair to Instagram earlier this month.

Jordan Peterson has claimed he helped Cristiano Ronaldo navigate a challenging period in his life.

Earlier this month, the Manchester United forward posted a picture of himself with the controversial right-wing psychologist on Instagram.

Ronaldo called Peterson a 'friend' in the post, causing uproar online. Peterson has developed a large following online for his divisive social views.

The 60-year-old was a guest on 'Piers Morgan Uncensored' and in a clip posted to Twitter, he discussed meeting the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Morgan is a close pal of Ronaldo's and praised Peterson for supporting the 37-year-old. Ronaldo and partner Georgina Rodriguez announced the death of one of their newborn twins in April.

"It seemed to me, talking to him in the last couple of days after he saw you, he's in a much better place," Morgan told Peterson.

He then responded: "That's what happens when you hang out with reprobate like me."

Peterson went on to detail meeting Ronaldo at home and what the duo discussed. He says the meeting lasted about two hours, covering financial and personal aspirations.

"He invited me to come and see him," Peterson continued. "He'd had some trouble in his life a few months ago and a friend of his sent him some of my videos and he said he'd watched those.

"Then he read one of my books and found it helpful, he wanted to talk.

"I went out to his house and we talked for about two hours. He showed me all his equipment for staying in tip-top condition, we talked about his companies. Mostly we talked about what he wanted in the future and some of the obstacles that he's facing."

Morgan likened Peterson to fictional football manager Ted Lasso in helping Ronaldo find what he wanted, to which he retorted: "Maybe he did realise to be missing it because he found it to some degree in those lectures and I always like to hear what people are up to and what they want."
