Arsenal fans put together video of refereeing mistakes vs Southampton

Mikel Arteta's side had their Premier League lead over Man City reduced after they could only manage a draw with struggling Southampton.

An Arsenal fan has put together a video of all the decisions that went against their team, in the draw with Southampton, including Bukayo Saka's yellow card.

The Gunners have been on quite the roll this season, sitting top of the Premier League table against all the odds after 11 games.

Their only loss so far has come against Manchester United, and they even managed to beat Liverpool, a team they have so often lost to in the past.

That win certainly came with plenty of controversy, with Liverpool fans bemused by the decision not to award their team a penalty, and they weren't happy that Mikel Arteta's side got one instead.

Now, however, the shoe is on the other foot, with fans of the north London side very annoyed with the decisions that went against them in their game vs Southampton.

Despite taking an early lead, through Granit Xhaka, and being all over their hosts in the early exchanges, in Sunday's game, Arsenal weren't able to further their lead.

That came back to bite them somewhere sensitive in the second half, when Stuart Armstrong equalised and the two sides shared the points.

One fan was so incensed with the decisions by referee Rob Jones that he made a little compilation of everything he got 'wrong,' including Saka's yellow card for a dive.

The decision to book the young England forward, who was even being compared to Lionel Messi last week, did seem like a harsh one.

There's an argument to be made that it was neither a foul or a dive, as can often be the case, and it came so early in the game.

After that there's definitely some decisions that seemed to go in the Saints' favour but there's very little of game changing note.

The video makes a point of saying Lyanco 'lashed out' twice, which possibly means he'd have got yellow cards for each incident, reducing the hosts to 10 men.

However, the second incident didn't take place until the 93rd minute, so they wouldn't have had too much time to take advantage of the extra man.

"Abysmal referee. Match of The Day showed nothing," one fan commented, suggesting some sort of conspiracy against Arteta's team, "There’s a surprise," a second fan responded.

"You missed the clear foul by Caleta-Car which also was a clear red card," a third fan suggested, adding a decision so blatant it didn't even make the video...

Another fan was hoping to get the ref punished, saying, "Expose that referee until he's relegated to Championship. Case closed," delightful.

One commenter even gave Jones the man of the match award for Ralph Hassenhutl's team, saying, "Robert Jones was Southampton's best player yesterday, gave 100% to the cause, stuck up for his teammates and didn't give Arsenal a chance in any 50/50s! He epitomises PGMOL referees."

And adding to the conspiracy theories, another said, "Can we just say if we did any and I mean any of these it would of been punished."

Fortunately, despite the obvious agenda against them, Arenal remain top of the Premier League, one point clear of Manchester City.
