Arsenal legend angers fans by naming "perfect" January signing

Arsenal legend David Seaman has named his "perfect" January signing for the Gunners - and some fans are not impressed.

Arsenal legend David Seaman has named Cristiano Ronaldo as a player he believes would be a "perfect" signing for the Gunners - and plenty of fans are not impressed.

Mikel Arteta's side are currently top of the Premier League by five points, and will keep the position at Christmas.

But Arsenal fans are still hopeful of their club doing business in January, with more competition for places in some areas of the pitch on the agenda.

And the Gunners are reportedly keenly interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that the player is likely to be their top January target.

But there are also links with other players, including Leicester's Youri Tielemans, who is out of contract in the summer, and Palmeiras midfielder Danilo.

But Seaman thinks that a 'perfect' signing would be Ronaldo, who departed Manchester United by mutual agreement on Tuesday.

David Seaman wants Arsenal to sign Ronaldo

Speaking to Piers Morgan on the 'Piers Morgan Uncensored' show on TalkTV, Seaman gave his thoughts on the Portugal legend's future.

He said: "Ronaldo is far from done, and he would be perfect for Arsenal.

"I would applaud him, because he's obviously talking the truth [in his interview with Morgan]. A lot of stuff he came out with is not stuff we haven't heard.

"We have heard a lot of other experienced players moaning and criticising Manchester United for the way the ground is, and the training.

"That shocked me, and that shouldn't be happening. He's been all around the world and seen how everywhere has progressed, and he comes back to his beloved Manchester United, and nothing has changed."

Many Arsenal - and some United - fans, however, did not share Seaman's view on Twitter.

One Red Devils fan claimed: "There literally isn't a worse player on the planet that Arsenal could sign."

And an Arsenal supporter said: "Ronaldo is still an incredible player, but Arsenal are doing just fine and I think getting Ronaldo in would detract from the progression that is being made by a young and hungry squad."

And another believes: "Ronaldo would be a very poor signing at Arsenal, for various reasons."

Meanwhile, one Gunners fan bluntly summed up their view: "No David Seaman no, oh and no again."
