Andrew Redmayne ruthlessly threw away Pedro Gallese's water bottle during the thrilling penalty shootout between Australia and Peru.

Redmayne starred in his side's dramatic victory as the Socceroos booked their spot in the World Cup later this year.

He was introduced as a substitute at the end of a goalless 120 minutes in Al Rayyan and produced a sensational performance between the sticks.

The 33-year-old offered an unorthodox approach in goal, dancing on the goal-line as the opposition players stepped up to take their spot-kick.

His tactic worked as he saved Alex Valera's penalty to clinch a 5-4 victory.

New footage has since surfaced showing Redmayne throwing away his opposite number's water bottle in another cunning intervention.

Movistar Deportes has shared a clip of the Australian keeper throwing away the water bottle in what they described as a 'dirty' trick.

Australia manager Graham Arnold explained his decision to bring on Redmayne, saying he wanted to create a 'bit of uncertainty' for Peru.

"Andrew Redmayne is a very good penalty saver," he said.

"And to try to get him to the line on the mental aspect for Peru, that why we were making that change to add that little bit of uncertainty in their brains.

"That’s the reason why."

Redmayne himself claims the idea of him coming on was floated about before the game.

"This ideas was floated pre-selection that this might eventuate in these kind of circumstances," he stated.

"For the two or three weeks that we’ve been here, I’ve kind of been having that in my mind.

"I’ve been working on a few things at training, but at the end of the day it’s the flip of a coin, it’s either right or left.

"The work has been, the homework has been done and I’m grateful for the other boys who ran out 120 minutes."
