Oscar Piastri Nine-Word Remark Not Broadcast on TV Emerges after Lando Norris Incident

After a controversial Italian Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri made his feelings known.

Oscar Piastri's nine-word remark that was not broadcast on TV has emerged after the incident involving Lando Norris at the Italian Grand Prix.

The Australian's lead over Norris in the world championship was cut to 31 points after he finished third behind his McLaren teammate at Monza.

For a brief moment, it looked as though Piastri would benefit from a stroke of luck following a pit stop mishap involving Norris.

McLaren had decided to run both cars on medium tyres longer than their rivals, aiming to exploit the pace of the soft tyres at the end of the race.

But the team were forced to adjust their strategy when it became clear that Ferrari's Charles Leclerc could overtake Piastri.

Although the Englishman was ahead of the Australian on track, he allowed Piastri to stop first, on the assurance that he would retain his track position.

Piastri's stop was just 1.9 seconds, but there was a problem with Norris' front left tyre that meant his stop took 5.9 seconds.

The Englishman then re-emerged behind his teammate.

McLaren acted quickly to correct the situation, instructing Piastri over team radio to let Norris through.

Although he appeared reluctant, Piastri complied, allowing Norris to finish second, and narrow the gap in their title fight.

In the post-race press conference, Piastri was asked about McLaren's decision to enforce team orders.

He replied: “I think the radio call kind of says enough.

“I’m sure we’ll discuss it again”.

Some Formula 1 commentators criticised McLaren for putting themselves in an awkward position by running both cars so long on one tyre.

But team boss Andrea Stella defended the decision saying that an earlier stop "would have limited the result."

If there had been a late safety car, then it would have allowed both cars to benefit from a free pit stop and finish the race on soft tyres racing rivals on the slower hard compound tyres.

McLaren boast a commanding advantage in the Constructors' Championship, with 617 points, while their nearest challengers Ferrari are on 280 points.

Both Norris and Piastri also sit comfortably ahead of Max Verstappen in the Drivers' Standings, with second-place Norris 63 points ahead of the Dutchman.

With the two McLaren drivers locked in a straight shootout for the world title, the team may face similarly difficult decisions in the remaining races.

There are still eight races left and just 31 points separating Norris and Piastri, leaving the championship finely balanced.
