Martin Brundle has spoken about Lewis Hamilton's future, and it could be bad news for Formula 1 fans.

Prior to the 2025 season, all eyes were on Hamilton as he made a high-profile move from Mercedes to Ferrari.

However, what was described as a dream move has so far been a horrible nightmare as Hamilton continues to struggle at his new team.

During the recent Hungarian Grand Prix, Hamilton had a weekend to forget as he finished 12th in the race, a long way off teammate Charles Leclerc, who was fourth.

Prior to the race, the 40-year-old told Ferrari to replace him after he endured a tough qualifying session.

He said: "I'm useless, absolutely useless.

"The team has no problem, you've seen the car on pole so they probably need to change driver."

Currently, Hamilton is in sixth place with 109 points, 42 behind Leclerc.

Reflecting on the weekend at the Hungaroring, former F1 driver and Sky Sports pundit Brundle touched on Hamilton's struggles.

He began: "I'm not looking forward to writing this next section, it's about Lewis Hamilton, who endured what must have been one of the worst weekends of his career, in and out of the car.

"He struggled for ultimate pace in qualifying, and with the pack so close he would start only 12th when his team-mate Leclerc was on pole. He would then describe himself as "useless" in post-qualifying interviews and suggest the team should change the driver. That was best left unsaid, but he obviously wanted to openly punish himself.

Brundle continued: "He's clearly in a difficult place personally, and during the race he would finish in that same 12th position, never really showing signs of progress.

"He sat in the car in parc ferme post-race for what seemed an age, was very downbeat in interviews again."

Looking ahead, Brundle stated that Hamilton could call time on his career if the current situation doesn't improve.

He added: "The summer break couldn't be more timely for Lewis to have a reset. It's painful to observe this great champion in so much strife.

"We have to expect that he can weather the storm and return to form given his talent and experience, but otherwise I simply can't see him enduring two more seasons at Ferrari, or anywhere else, like this."

F1 will return at the end of the month with the Dutch Grand Prix, which will take place at the Circuit Zandvoort.
