An unnamed Pakistan men’s cricket team player is reportedly facing punishment for allegedly misbehaving with a female hotel staff member during the ICC T20 World Cup.
The player has reportedly been fined for his actions in Kandy, Sri Lanka, with the incident said to have occurred before Pakistan’s super eights fixture against Sri Lanka. Pakistan won the match but still exited the competition after failing to limit the hosts to a score of 147 or below.
As reported by Telecomasia, the staff member raised the incident, prompting hotel employees to intervene before Pakistan team manager Naveed Cheema was informed.
The report claims that senior officials at the Golden Crown Hotel are pushing for firm sanctions despite Cheema apologising on behalf of the player, who has since been fined for misconduct.

The player is expected to face the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) upon his return to the country, which could result in further disciplinary action.
SPORTbible has contacted the PCB for comment.

This comes after Haider Ali was arrested by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) on suspicion of rape in 2025 during Pakistan Shaheens’ tour of England.
On 3 August 2025, Ali was arrested during a game in Beckenham. A statement released by GMP said the alleged incident occurred on 23 July 2025, just one day after the team’s first match.
The 25-year-old was bailed before all charges were dropped, allowing him to leave the UK. GMP stated that there was insufficient evidence to refer the matter to court.
At the time, GMP told ESPNcricinfo: “We always take allegations of this nature very seriously and will assess each incident thoroughly.
"Following a comprehensive review of all available evidence, the investigation has been closed at this time. Should any further information come to light, we would review the material and case again appropriately.”
Ali was also temporarily suspended by the PCB until December 2025, when the sanction was lifted, allowing him to compete in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for Noakhali Express. However, he has not represented Pakistan since the incident.
