Incoming Manchester City Signing's Contract Details Revealed Following Agreement Over Move

Kalvin Phillips is set to double his current wages at Leeds United when he completes a move to Manchester City in the coming weeks.

Manchester City have agreed personal terms with Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips ahead of a summer move to the Etihad Stadium, as per a new report.

The Premier League champions have wasted no time in strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming season - with still the best part of two months to go until the opening day of the new Premier League campaign.

Following the January deadline day signing of Argentina forward Julian Alvarez from River Plate, the Blues then secured the sought-out signature of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for £51 million.

Haaland, 22, has been one of Europe’s top finishers in recent seasons and has joined the club he supported whilst growing up on a five-year deal despite interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The Norwegian will finally plug the hole left following the departure of Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero up front, with Pep Guardiola's side winning back-to-back Premier League titles in the absence of a recognised striker for nearly two years.

In the same mindset of plugging gaps in the lineup, City have found their ideal replacement for departing club captain Fernandinho, who parts ways with the Etihad outfit after nine seasons in Manchester.

City have agreed personal terms with Leeds United's Kalvin Phillips ahead of a £42 million transfer - which could rise to £45 million with add-ons.

A recruitment source has revealed the England international will double his weekly wages with his new Manchester City contract, according to a new report by Football Insider.

The terms of Kalvin Phillips' new deal suggest the midfielder will earn around £150,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium - which would be twice as much as his current Leeds deal - which is set to expire in the summer of 2024.

The 26-year-old will be able to provide cover for Rodri in the number six position but the Englishman can also play further upfield in either of the attacking midfield areas roles if needed.

Phillips made 23 appearances for Leeds last season as the Whites narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the Premier League campaign.

The Leeds-born midfielder suffered a hamstring injury that kept him on the sidelines from between December 2021 and March 2022, missing 14 games including ties against Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City themselves.
