You don't disrespect the Irish that easily!

Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather will go to very personal places when it comes to insulting each other but McGregor showed tonight that you don't threaten to disrespect his flag!

There are few countries as patriotic as the Irish, especially when it comes to their sport. Yes, even America with it's well known pride in the flag doesn't come close to the Irish.

At the Olympics in London in 2012 the most noise made at the championships was at the Copper Box arena during the boxing, when Ireland's Katie Taylor was fighting.

The English at home had Nicola Adams and Anthony Joshua, amongst many, to cheer for and still Taylor came out on top.

So it was no surprise that when Mayweather dared go near the Irish tricolour on stage in Toronto the 'Notorious' was not happy about it and very quick to react.

'Money' Mayweather didn't look too pleased himself when McGregor decided to take his bag as insurance that nothing bad would happen to the flag of his nation.

The part of the night gave us the most excitement as we all waited with baited breath to see if the UFC lightweight champion would throw the bag into the crowd or not.

In fact the Dubliner could have made it rain green when he reached inside the bag that Mayweather had brought out to the stage with him to find $5000 cash!

Mayweather almost tried to laugh it off in the end as he was clearly worried about losing his bag. Asked if he could keep the flag from the audience member he took it from then offered it to McGregor.

The whole night was pretty explosive from the stare down to McGregor's incredible speech and finally to Mayweather's retort.

The 40 year-old laid down the challenge to his opponent to bet his side of the money on the outcome of the match.

If he threatens to take an Irish flag again Mayweather might not make it that far.
