Former UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor has issued a come and get me challenge to American rapper 50 Cent.

The Irish fighter says "he would like" to fight the 44-year-old in a blockbuster celebrity bout after the songwriter turned actor "constantly" made memes about him.

The pair's rivalry goes way back. 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, first exchanged words with McGregor during his only boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

Jackson taunted the Irish fighter after he lost against the eleven-time world champion and a bitter rivalry ensued, especially when McGregor lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in his UFC comeback fight after two years out of the octagon.

'The Eagle' held on to his lightweight title and undefeated record by forcing his Irish opponent to tap out to a reverse choke.

And the memes began.

A year later and McGregor has not forgotten about 50 Cent's antics. The Irish fighter was asked about the celebrity he would most like to fight and he quickly responded.

"I'd have to probably say 50 Cent, I'd like to fight him." he said via The Sun.

"Throughout the course of the [Floyd] Mayweather build-up I used him as a tool, a promotional tool on the free also, I knew he was linked to Floyd so I tied him in also and he responded big time and we capitalised on that audience so I was very thankful.

"But then after that he began a little tirade against me on social media, particularly Instagram where he'd make these memes about me constantly.

"Every time I'd go onto the internet I'd see 50 Cent had posted up some new stupid meme and I wrote one of the memes - 'old man on the internet making memes' and then he blocked me.

"So he's had to block me, and I still see sometimes, I still get tagged in - other people saying he's saying this and his saying that.

"So I'd like to have a knock-off with 50 yeah, so if you're listening 50 - let's get it going bud."
