Kubrat Pulev has slammed Tyson Fury for saying that he snubbed a fight with him this year.

The Brit superstar, 31, named the Bulgarian Pulev as one of four boxers who rejected a fight with him before he took up the bout with Otto Wallin.

But the 'Cobra' accused Fury of turning down the fight and branded him as "scared."

The 38-year-old heavyweight told World Boxing News: "Fury is using me and some other boxers that he knows are currently unavailable for different reasons, just so he can get some PR.

"A few years ago, Fury refused a fight with me and not because he wasn't available like I am right now.

"He was available. He was just scared!"

Pulev defeated Fury's cousin, Hughie, last October by unanimous decision and is the mandatory challenger for the winner of the upcoming Andy Ruiz Jr vs Anthony Joshua rematch.

The Bulgarian star, whose only professional loss came at the hands of Wladimir Klitschko, took a swipe at Fury by saying that he didn't want avenge his family member's defeat.

"My first goal is to become a world champion," he said, before adding: "not to just fight random unknown opponents like he's doing!

"Winning those belts are my main focus right now.

"Fury's turn will come and, when it does, I will make him just as powerless as his cousin, who also used to talk a lot."

Pulev could have to wait until 2020 for his next bout with all of the scheduled fights set to take place over the next few months.

But he could eye up the likes of Oscar Rivas and Bryant Jennings as he waits to find out the winner of Ruiz vs 'AJ.'

Fury will step into the ring against undefeated Swede Wallin on 14th September at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The 'Gypsy King' plans to turn his attention to Deontay Wilder in 2020 for their highly anticipated rematch.

According to Fury, the rematch has been 'signed and confirmed' for early 2020 and also revealed this month that he would compete against the WBC champ on 22nd February in Las Vegas.

Should Fury have taken up a fight with Pulev?
