It took just 54-seconds for the unknown Breidis Prescott to detonate the punches on Amir Khan announcing himself to the boxing world. Khan was a 18-0 budding superstar having clinched the Commonwealth lightweight title but it all came crashing down after the shattering loss.

The Colombian was sporting an equally impressive 19-0 record including seventeen stoppage victories garnering a reputation of being quite the knockout artist, raising questions about the match-making process and just who selected the feared puncher. Prescott brutally finished Khan in similar fashion to his previous opponents dishing out a flurry of punches.

The devastating left-hand highlighted the worse fears of his suspect punch resistance as well as losing the World Boxing Organisation intercontinental lightweight title. The Olympic silver medalist hailing from Bolton, England, was touted as the heir to Ricky Hatton yet the destructive one round proved to be more damaging to his reputation than his chin.

Khan was seated for the first time after just 30-seconds. Despite getting up from the knockdown, he was clearly struggling. Once the fight resumed, Prescott then landed a series of shots before finding the target with a huge left-hook as Khan hit the deck again where he ultimately got counted out suffering the first defeat of his professional career.

Following the knockout, Prescott subsequently got dubbed the 'Khanqueror' but didn't make much of his boxing career afterwards, who was recycled by promoters, in particular English ones. He was paired up with both Kevin Mitchell and Paul McCloskey but lost the two outings via unanimous decision though will be firmly fixated in British boxing history.
