Amir Khan Takes A Shot At Donald Trump Ahead Of Biggest Fight

Amir Khan has given himself a near impossible task on Saturday night, or the early hours of Sunday morning for those of us in England, of beating Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. However the former Olympian still found time to have a brilliant dig at wobbly haired, small fingered Presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Khan steps in the ring with Canelo this weekend in Las Vegas, going up two weight divisions to face the Mexican at middleweight and fight for the 25 year old's WBC title. The British boxer hasn't fought since 29th May 2015 however his near year out of the ring maybe of help considering he hasn't had to put on the extra weight in a short amount of time.

Ahead of the fight Muslim Khan and Mexican Canelo both found time to take shots at the Republican Presidential candidate and all round toss pot Donald Trump. The smirking ignoramus has claimed he would "ban all Muslims" from entering America and banged on about building a huge wall at the Mexican border if he were to win.

During the press conference Khan joked: "You never know - this could be the last fight here for me and Canelo if Donald Trump becomes president!"

Canelo, who has fought in the US 14 out of his previous 17 fights, added more seriously:

"I don't really like getting into political issues but it hurts, it offends, I would like him to understand us. When I'm out running, I see a lot of my countrymen working hard, they have not come here to rob and steal.

"We want to show him that we Mexicans come here to succeed and be victorious."

Canelo, who has only one loss in his career to the undefeated Floyd 'Money' Mayweather, is a massive favourite for the fight, mainly because Khan has gone up two weight divisions, and is priced as ridiculously a 1/5 by some bookies.

It's the Mexican's first title defence having won the vacant belt against Miguel Cotto last time out whilst Khan's last fight against Chris Algieri, which he won on a unanimous decision, was to defend his WBC Silver welterweight title.

Saturday's fight will be very interesting, not least because the winner is likely to fight the incredible GGG, Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin, later this year- let's just hope it can be in America.
