The home fighter produced an incredible flurry of punches that sent the Irishman through the ropes and out of the ring.
Referee Steve Gray immediately waved the bout off, with Wood defending his WBA (regular) featherweight world title in a 'Fight of the Year' candidate.
However, had he not secured the finish in the 12th round, he could've lost his belt - with each of the three judges having Conlan in front at the time of the stoppage.

Two judges had Conlan one point up while another judge had him THREE points ahead.
Though, of course, the 30-year-old succumbed to Wood's devastating onslaught, suffering his first defeat of his professional career as a result.
The nature of the defeat concerned many, with Conlan transported to hospital.

But he issued an encouraging update as he called for a rematch.
In a video message, he said: "Congrats to Leigh Wood, congrats to his team, that was the best shot of the night he got me with at the end. But it is what it is, I'll be back."
On Twitter, he added: "I'm all good folks, cheers for the messages. Ill be back, good shot and congrats to Leigh and his team."
Conlan doubled down on his rematch desire, tweeting: "Watched the fight, I definitely need to run it back! Up on the cards & 11th was a slip, fatigue was kicking in & I was caught on the temple with a good shot I didn’t see. Respect @itsLeighWood congrats again, your a tough f**ker.
