Conor Benn slaps away microphone when approached for an interview

Conor Benn was captured slapping a reporter’s microphone away after being approached for an interview.

Benn was involved in a huge controversy after his planned fight with Chris Eubank Junior was cancelled after a failed drugs test.

However, it has recently been announced that he was cleared of any wrongdoing by the World Boxing Council.

On Saturday night, ahead of the much anticipated bout between Anthony Joshua and Jermaine Franklin, Benn was spotted ringside.

TalkSPORT reporter Gareth A Davies approached the boxer for an interview, he said: “I’m very near Conor Benn, I just want to say hello to.”

However, Davies was greeted with a slap to his microphone.

After the incident, Davies said: “Well he’s knocked the microphone off, he doesn’t wanna talk tonight I’m afraid.

“He’s got his security guy and he’s just knocked the microphone out of my hand.

“He clearly doesn’t wanna do anything. That’s the arrogance of youth unfortunately.”

Davies continued: “I don’t take it as a slight on me at all, it’s the talkSPORT microphone.

He doesn’t wanna talk to talkSPORT, that’s what he’s clearly saying. He wasn’t aggressive towards me at all…

“We know that privately he’s been a bit disappointed by a lot of the criticism he’s had on talkSPORT and I think that’s all that’s happened tonight.

“He knocked the microphone with his left hand.It wasn’t aggressive, I wasn’t ducking a left hook or anything, he just slapped the microphone bulb with talkSPORT on it.”

Fans were quick to react to Benn’s actions on social media.

One said: “Course not he hasn’t got his lawyer telling what he can and can’t say.”

Another tweeted: “He did the right thing they slandered his name.”

A third fan added: “Dont blame him, They’ve done nothing but slate him for the last 6 months+”

Someone else wrote: “Normally I’d say that’s out of order but because it’s GAD I’ll allow it.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “All Conor had to do was say I don’t want to talk! What’s he doing!!”
