Knockout Voted 'Best Finish In 30 Years' Saw Boxer Turn Into A Zombie On The Canvas

He hit the floor but he kept throwing punches, not that they would have hurt anyone even if they could have landed.

The knockout that was voted the best in the last 30 years left Simon Brown thinking that he was still standing and throwing punches, brutal stuff.

Deontay Wilder is the biggest puncher in boxing right now and when the Bronze Bomber really lands a punch it's usually a lights out moment for his opponent.

One thing Wilder's never done though is discombobulate his opponent so they're still throwing punches whilst lying on the canvas, that's exactly what happened to Brown in April 1995 when he was KO'd by Vincent Pettway.

The left that fells Brown is a thing of beauty and the American hits the deck in an extremely stiff way before he starts 'throwing' punches on the floor.

In 2016 the punch was voted by Showtime viewers as the best knockout in the previous 30 years, 21 years after it was thrown by Pettway.

At the time the Maryland born boxer was the IBF super welterweight world champion and coming up against the undefeated Brown, who was a friend.

Speaking to Boxing News in 2016 the victor said, "People couldn't believe that KO. And at the time I didn't even consider myself a KO puncher. I felt I was a boxer-puncher.

"But in that fight, me and Simon Brown were friends, but in the ring there are no friends, so I put it that aside and I did what I had to do."

"It wasn't until I looked at the film later on that I realised it was the perfect punch; my body alignment, the snap. I had all my power behind it," Pettway added, "it was the perfect shot."

Pettway would lose the title in his next fight, against Paul Vedan, before losing to Terry Norris in 1996 for a chance to reclaim the belt, with the WBC title also on the line.

Wilder may need to find some of that kind of power in his next fight in February. The American takes on Tyson Fury in a rematch of their December 2018 fight.

The Gypsy King is the one man who has felt Wilder's hardest shots and not quite had his lights out moment. The American landed a huge shot in the 12th round of their first fight which looked to have ended things but somehow the British heavyweight was able to answer the count.

Will Wilder get it done in their second meeting?
