Conor Benn is confident he will pass his latest test against Chris van Heerden with flying colours, live and exclusively on DAZN on Saturday night.
Benn comes into the fight unbeaten in 20 bouts and the 25-year-old produced a devastating fourth round knockout of Chris Algieri back in December 2021.
'The Destroyer' is wary of the threat posed by the experienced South African but is confident of overcoming his latest challenge.
"I love challenges. I thrive off challenges and so does every fighter," said Benn.
"We're all competitors and we are all fighters, and all love a challenge. This is a different type of challenge that I plan on overcoming and passing with flying colours."
Van Heerden has suffered two defeats from his 28 professional fights, but his last bout in 2020 was cut short with Jaron Ennis due to a clash of heads in the opening round, leading to a no-decision.
But despite the lengthy absence, he fully believes he is a better boxer than his English counterpart.
"I'm a much better boxer than Conor Benn," said van Heerden. "In my opinion Conor is an emotional, angry fighter.
"He relies on his power. He cannot box with me. He's not a boxer. He's a power puncher and I don't rate him as a boxer. That's why I'm saying he's a very emotional, angry type of fighter in my opinion."
Benn was quick to dispel that myth though, adding: "He is saying I cannot box which was the headline I believe I read and he's backtracking now. Last time I checked Algieri got outboxed and knocked out unconscious so I can do both, ask Sebastian Formella.
"I've had 13 knockouts of 20 fights so what are all the rest of them? I've won them quite convincingly."
Van Heerden is Benn's first southpaw opponent, and the South African feels that will play to his advantage on Saturday.
"Through the history of boxing we know that fighters hate fighting southpaw fighters. Orthodox fighters always have some sort of trouble fighting southpaw fighters," added Van Heerden.
"That's definitely going to play a factor in my opinion. They see it as a stepping stone fight for Conor, but I see it as a coming out fight for me. This is where I shine and people say, 'Wow where has this kid been?' I just never got a fair shot.
"Benn has not walked the road I've walked. I didn't have a last name to carry me in my career. I had to do it the hard way. Unfortunately, it comes with a price. His dad is a very famous fighter and I feel like the Benn last name put him in the positions that he didn't need to work that hard for."
