Shad Gaspard Wins WWE's 'Warrior Award' For Heroically Saving Son's Life During Drowning Incident

Shad's wife accepted the award on her husband's behalf and delivered a beautiful speech on the WWE's Hall Of Fame night.

FROM DALLAS, TEXAS.

Shad Gaspard is the true definition of a hero.

Gaspard, who was one half of the much-loved tag team Cryme Tyme, was awarded the 'Warrior Award' at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on WrestleMania weekend in Dallas, Texas.

He was honoured with the prestigious accolade for his brave actions a few years back which ultimately saved his son's life.

While going for a swim at Venice beach in 2020, Shad and his young son got caught in a dangerous rip, but the WWE fan favourite directed local lifeguards to save his son first before attempting to rescue him.

Unfortunately Shad then disappeared underwater soon after.

Three days later, after an extensive search, his body washed up on the same beach.

He was just 39 years of age.

But Shad's lasting legacy lives on as he paid the ultimate sacrifice by putting the safety of his family first over his own.

Now his incredible actions which saved his son's life have been honoured by the WWE as he was named the recipient of the 'Warrior Award' during the Hall of Fame.

"There are endless stories I could tell about Shad standing up for others, helping others and fighting for what was right," Shad's wife Siliana said as she collected the award on his behalf.

"Shad used to tell our son that there are two types of men in the world: the wolves and the sheepdogs.

"The definition of a sheepdog is to protect the flock of sheep from the wolves by combining elements from both the sheep and the wolf. They are empathetic towards others, yet they understand violence and aggression. Most importantly, they know how to use their aggression to protect others. The true definition of Shad.

"Son, you are a sheepdog. Your dad knew it before I did. The best of daddy lives in you and you come from a great man.

"I want you to always hold your head up high when ever anyone speaks of your dad, because you had a badass dad."

There was barely a dry eye inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

And in a truly heartwarming moment, Shad's son Aryeh and former tag team partner JTG paid tribute to the legendary wrestler by recreating the iconic Cryme Tyme handshake up on stage.
