Brian To'o's Brilliant Try-Saving Tackle Sums Up New South Wales' Gritty Defence

Offence wins you the odd game, but defence wins you a series.

Brian To'o, take a bow.

The New South Wales winger produced a try-saving tackle for the ages, ripping the ball free from Kyle Feldt's grasp just as he was about to ground it.

Not only did To'o's effort ensure the Blues kept Queensland to zero points at Suncorp Stadium for the first time in history, but it also summed up New South Wales' gritty defence throughout the whole game.

Yes, their eye-catching attack was impeccable once again with James Tedesco, Tom Trbojevic, Jarome Luai, Josh Addo-Carr and Latrell Mitchell tearing Queensland to shreds - but it was the Blues' defence which made the difference in Game 2.

And when To'o was called upon to make a big play, he certainly didn't disappoint.

With Queensland ramping up the pressure on New South Wales late on, the winger had to be on his A-game when the ball was kicked through the Blues' defensive line.

Onrushing Maroons star Feldt looked destined to score when he grabbed the ball and floated narrowly above the try line.

But just as he was about to flop to the turf and ground the ball, he had it stripped from his finger tips by To'o.

It was the sort of try-saving tackle - or should we say 'touchdown-saving tackle' - that an NFL cornerback would be pleased of.

You know, where cornerbacks swipe footballs away for fun just before a wide receiver plants their foot on the ground.

Well, To'o's move was reminiscent of that, clawing the ball away from danger just split-seconds before his opposite number could ground it.

Offence wins you the odd game, but defence wins you a series.
